Become a PCA and Register
Personal Care Aide (PCA) Training is an excellent training opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the rewarding field of Healthcare. PCA’s are likely to work in client’s homes, assisted living facilities or other facilities (not nursing homes). They will assist clients to complete activities of daily living such as exercise, walking, bathing, and grooming. In addition, they may also be expected to do some light housekeeping, run errands, and participate in meal preparation.
Students who successfully complete the training will receive a Certificate of Completion from Harbor Home HealthCare and are authorized to provide personal care nursing aide services to Medicaid Waiver recipients. Please note graduate of this program will not be recognized by the Virginia State Board of Nursing, nursing and medical facilities, or other state nursing boards, but only by DMAS Waiver programs.
Requirements:
– Must have a computer or tablet with a reliable Internet connection.
– Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
– Must pass a national criminal background check and drug test.
– Must have a valid TB test (skin test within 1 year or chest x-ray within 5 years)
– Must be able read, speak and write in English.
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
– You must wear a watch with a second hand.
Training Process
After submitting your $50 non refundable deposit, we will email you instructions to complete 26 hours of online training at your own pace, but you must complete it within 30 days of the start of the training. After you successfully complete the online training, you will be contacted by us to schedule your 2 days (17 hours) of in-office skills assessment/demonstration conducted by a Registered Nurse.
