What is Personal Care?

Personal Care is non-medical help with approved daily routines such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, meals, mobility, transfers, and other activities included in the service plan.

What is Respite Care?

Respite Care provides scheduled non-medical support so a family caregiver can rest, work, attend appointments, run errands, or manage other responsibilities while their loved one remains supported at home.

Does Harbor provide skilled nursing or therapy?

No. Harbor’s public services are non-medical Personal Care and Respite Care. Harbor does not present skilled nursing, therapy, wound care, injections, or other medical treatment as part of these services.

Does Harbor accept Virginia Medicaid?

Harbor works with Cardinal Care Virginia Medicaid managed care plans for authorized Personal Care or Respite Care when eligibility, waiver enrollment, approved services, and authorization requirements apply.

Can I pay privately for care?

Yes. Harbor also serves private-pay clients. Fees, requested schedules, service availability, and the care arrangement are discussed before services begin.
