Job responsibilities
Understand and follow Harbor Home Healthcare policies, procedures, and the client’s approved service plan.
Perform assigned personal care and bathing while protecting the client’s dignity, privacy, comfort, and safety.
Complete required visit documentation accurately and within Harbor’s required timeframes.
Report changes in the client’s condition, needs, or safety concerns promptly to the supervising RN.
Perform assigned household services that are essential to the client’s care in the home.
Assist with ambulation and assigned exercises within the aide’s approved role and the client’s service plan.
Attend required orientation, in-service education, and continuing education programs.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English well enough to perform assigned duties and have basic math skills.
Must have qualifying aide training or credentials accepted by Harbor, such as a Virginia Board of Nursing CNA, a Home Health Aide certificate from an approved training program, or a Personal Care Aide certificate from a DMAS-approved training program.
Must demonstrate maturity, compassion, and the ability to meet the demands of in-home caregiving.
Must successfully complete applicable written and skills competency evaluation requirements.
Must satisfy Harbor’s required hiring, background, orientation, training, and documentation requirements.
Work environment & physical requirements
Work is performed primarily in clients’ homes throughout Harbor’s Northern Virginia service area, with travel to and from assignments.
The role may involve extended periods of standing and physical activity.
Must be able to bend, lift, stand, and participate in physical activity as required for the assigned client and within Harbor’s approved scope of service.
